Great restaurants, bars and additional surfing options can be found 1 kilometer north on the beach in Esterillos Este (a great walk or easy drive), or 15 kilometers north in Esterillos Oeste, a small village with groceries, great restaurants and less technical surfing options. 10 kilometers to the south is Parrita, a very typical, less tourist / surfing focused town, with banking, hospital, and grocery shopping, as well as local fruit / vegetable stands, bakeries and butcher shops.



Playa Bejuco is designated a Blue Flag beach, the highest designation provided by the Costa Rican government for its sheer beauty. Whether you are one for an early morning stroll or like to take in the sunset, you are likely to have the beach all to yourself save for a few surfers.

You may also see opposum, river otters, raccoons and other species.
